Rental Terms for 1728 Twin Oaks Crescent, Coldwater

Last updated: 16 March 2022

Power/Heat Source

We recommend you bring flashlights in the event of a power failure at the cottage. In rural areas, interruptions to the electrical power supply may last a little longer than in the city. Also, remember that the water system operates on an electrical pump. Therefore, do not run the water when the power is off.

Location of fuse box/electrical panel:  Electrical panel is located in the first bedroom. Reset the fuses if it trips. (Press on the button in the centre of the fuses)

Water

The cottage has a well water supply. The pump runs on electricity. So, when there is power failure don’t use the water. Please bring your own drinking water if you don’t want to use the well water. The water may be safe to drink, but you may want to bring drinking water. The pump will go off and on when the system requires water. Please note that it normally should NOT run for long periods.

If you believe there is a problem, turn the pump off until you have contacted the owner.

Location of water pump and hot water heater: The water pump is located on the deck just outside the sunroom. The water pump switch is located just outside the main washroom wall in the sunroom.

Fireplace

Please do not use artificial logs or anything other than regular firewood. Do not overload the fireplace. Make certain that the flue is open prior to lighting a fire, and that the fireplace screen/doors are in place while the fire is burning.

Outdoor Fires

Outdoor fires are only allowed in the established permanent fire pit area. Before lighting any fire outdoors check the weather and Severn township fire regulations. Avoid campfire on windy days. Keep a bucket of water or the water hose near the fire pit. Ensure the fire is completely out before leaving the area.

Waste Disposal

Never leave garbage outside the cottage unless you wish to have additional company during your vacation! Country critters like raccoons, bears and skunks are attracted to garbage. All garbage must be removed from the property at the end of your rental period. Any garbage left at the cottage premises will result in a $100.00 disposal charge.

For those who rent weekly the garbage pickup is on Wednesday mornings. Please take the garbage bin to the road on Tuesday night or Wednesday before 7 am.

  • Baxter Transfer Station:

PLEASE NOTE THAT CASH PAYMENT IS NOT ACCEPTED.

Bathroom/ Septic System

The cottage has a holding tank. The basic rule is DO NOT PUT ANYTHING down the toilet other than natural waste and toilet paper (and be conservative with water and the toilet paper). Also, it is easier on the system if you flush only when absolutely necessary.

If the power goes out for a period of time, and if you need to flush the toilet, fill the toilet tank with water from the lake and then flush.

Do not exceed the maximum number of persons determined for this cottage and indicated on your rental agreement.

Cottage Cleaning

Thank you for your consideration in leaving the cottage clean and tidy as you got it.

Cleaning supplies are in the washroom under the sink and brooms, vacuum cleaners and mops are in the utility room.

Barbeque

The BBQ grill should be cleaned/brushed after each use. After each use, turn off both the BBQ On/Off valve and the tank valve. If the propane runs out during your stay, please see if there is an extra tank available, if not, please go to the nearest refill station (Home Hardware, Petro Canada or Esso)  and refill the tank for your use.

Television

Cable TV service is not available in rural areas. Therefore, television reception and selection of channels tend to be limited. You can enjoy Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Recreational Equipment

There is a canoe for use for a maximum of two persons with 2 paddles and Life Jackets (2 Large and 2 small). Jackets and paddles are in the shed by the water.

The use of the Canoe will be solely at your own risk. Winds could be very strong at times.

The Cottage Community

Everyone knows everyone else in this neighbourhood. Please respect them. They are not cottagers. They live here all year round. Don’t be surprised if someone asks you who you are. Explain that you are guests of the owners. No loud parties or noise after 10:00 p.m.

Please note the speed on Twin Oaks Crescent is 20 Km/hr. There are lots of kids and pets always on the road. Please be careful when you drive.
